Information is as important to the digital age, just like the oil pipe was to the industrial era; and as information grow, so does our knowledge, because information is the very essence of knowledge creation.
Our ways of learning and knowing are therefore, now, being challenged by the application of new tools in society, which came about because there is simply too much information, and its changing just too rapidly. Textbooks and courses can no longer contain the vast amount of information flow, neither can anyone individual carry it in his/her head.
The context within which education takes place has now been impacted by technology; Hence the need for the introduction of new tools for teaching and learning. Web 2.0 is that new tool enabling us to cope with massive information divulge. Today, learning has become increasingly networked and social in nature.
